15443 Baggage Handling System

The State Trading Centre, on behalf of Isavia Ltd. requests tenders for the upgrade to the existing checked baggage handling and screening system at the Keflavik International Airport. The scope of work includes the demolition of approximately 40 conveyor sections, installation of approximately 140 new conveyor sections and modification of approximately 35 existing conveyor sections. The new system will require the implementation of a new lower and upper level control system for the new/modified baggage handling system, along with a new upper level control system for the existing Crisplant tilt tray sorter that shall all be integrated together. The proposed layout will require implementation of a control architecture that will dynamically route baggage using principles of path flow redundancy and load balancing to maximize throughput and operational uptime. The new security screening system shall utilize the two existing operational Level 1 Smiths-Heimann EDS machines, along with the installation of a third machine that is currently being stored on site by the Airport. Several additive alternates are proposed for further enhancement of the system, including the addition of queue conveyors to the Level 3 screening area, implementation of a crossover subsystem, and a cleared-bag transfer input subsystem.

Date for work to be finished on site: April 15th, 2014.
