Supporting structures of steel bridges for avalanche defence, in Siglufjordur in Iceland, for Fjallabyggd

Ríkiskaup (The State Trading Centre - STC), on behalf of Fjallabyggd kt. 580706-0880, requests tenders for the furnishing (design, production and delivery) of steel snow bridges, to be erected in avalanche starting zones in Hafnarhyrna above the community in Siglufjordur in Fjallabyggd and serve as avalanche protection for the community.
The tender includes design and production of the snow bridges as well as delivery to Siglufjordur, special consultation (as the designer of the supporting system) and cooperation with the Buyer and the installation Contractor in setting out the layout of the snow bridge, (see ch.2.2 Consultation with the Buyer). Installation of the snow bridges will be advertised in a separate tender.
The project involves production (design and build) of snow bridges (a.k.a. supporting rigid steel structures) from approx. 600 tons of steel, i.e. 1585 m of steel bridges with height range, measured perpendicular to the ground surface, of Dk = 3,5 m, 4,0 m, 4,5 m and 5,0 m) and 564 ground plates (152 m²). The avalanche risk at Siglufjordur is high and this project is a part of the avalanche defence program for the community of Siglufjordur. The installation of snow bridges at Grouskardshnjukur, North of Hafnarhyrna just above the town, was completed in 2004 and was the first phase of the avalanche defence program of supporting structures.
The snow bridges are supporting structures, which purpose is to increase the stability of the snow pack in the avalanche starting zones thus preventing avalanches.
The product to be delivered in 2013, 2014 and 2015 shall be delivered (DAP – Incoterms 2010)in Siglufjordur. The first year delivery will be abt. 20 % of the contract amount and shall include: 70 pcs. of 300×300 mm ground plates, 150 pcs. 635×630 mm ground plates and 10 pcs. 800×800 mm ground plates, 70 pcs., of hot dip galvanized anchors (Gewi 20 soil nail) with the length of 0.5 m and 150 pcs., with the length of 1.0 m. Furthermore, the first delivery shall include 200 pressure anchors and anchor heads along with the bolts, nuts and washers needed for installation of anchors. The same amount of tension anchors is needed. The first delivery shall be delivered before 1st of June 2013. The second and third year deliveries (abt. 40% each year) shall be mostly delivered before 15th of May each year but also other deliveries during each summer in accordance with terms of deliveries described in the contract documents. The quantity of steel in each delivery will be detailed further during contracting period and in accordance with installation schedule. The Installation of the snow bridges will begin in the summer of 2013.
This phase of the project, including installation, is scheduled to be finished by fall of 2015.

Installation assistance/guidance work shall be included, approx. one week each year. Further details of product quantity in each delivery will be specified in the contracting stage.
The buyer shall have the option to extend this contract at same prices through next phase of the planned defence program for supporting structures above Siglufjordur which will be of similar size as this one.
