Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM System)
Rikiskaup (The State Trading Centre)
The tendered TEM shall be new and unused or an equipment that has been used for demonstration purposes only, but not for any other purpose, such as product development or research. Tendered equipment that has previously been used for demonstration purposes shall not be damaged in any way, shall have been manufactured 2011 or later, shall fulfil all conditions and shall — requirements in chapter 4 exactly in the same way as a new, unused instrument.
The TEM shall be fully functional where different equipment parts interact together according to the contracting authority's requirements and specifications.
The research equipment will be situated and used by personnel and students at the University of Iceland and the TEM system will be used for studying the ultrastructure of biological specimens. It shall operate at 120 kV. It shall contain high-performance vacuum pumping system, rotary pump with buffer tank, oil diffusion pumps and water chiller. It shall be supported by a projection chamber with a viewing window, large and small viewing screen and binocular viewer. It shall contain an electron gun with a Wehnelt assembly suitable for Tungsten filaments and LaB6 cathodes and be supplied with a LaB6 cathode. It shall contain automatic vacuum valves between the electron gun and the column, and the column and the viewing chamber. It shall contain two condenser lenses, objective lens, diffraction lens, intermediate lens and two projector lenses. The objective lens shall be a high-contrast lens optimized for 2D and 3D imaging of biological specimens. The TEM system shall be supplied with a fully integrated bottom-mounted CCD-Camera System, at least 8M pixel resolution. It shall contain minimum dose system linked to the CCD camera protecting the sample from damage by the electron beam. The microscope column shall contain high precision motor-driven control of the height and tilt of the grid with specimen. The microscope column shall contain cold trap/finger (cryo fin) for anti-contamination and cryo-prepared specimens. The TEM system shall contain an operating panel with a trackball system. It shall be supplied with common specimen holder and high tilt specimen holder. The software shall enable automatic control of focus, exposure and astigmatism correlation and include a digital montage system for combining images
