The valves shall be of flanged gate valve type and designed for geothermal service. The basic construction shall be according to EN 1984 and all appropriate normative references shall apply. Each valve shall be of the flexible wedge type with outside screw and yoke and rising stem. The valves shall be with metal to metal sealing both upstream and downstream. Cobalt base alloy (Stellite 6HF) shall be applied on wearing surfaces i.e. on the gate segment and seats. A back seat shall be provided for re-packing while under pressure. The stuffing box shall be of ample length, preferably double stuffing box with lantern ring, for grease injection and packed with asbestos yarn (alt: graphoil) impregnated with PTFE suspension. All valves shall be full bore and furnished with yoke nut supported with ball thrust bearings. The valves shall be able to be in inclined position and suitable for installation into horizontal and vertical pipelines. Seat rings in valves shall be flush welded in place, not screwed, to provide cavitation free flow passage. Face to face dimensions for PN designated flanged end valves shall be in accordance with EN 558:2008+A1:2011. The valves shall withstand a differential pressure corresponding to design pressure on one side of the valve and atmospheric pressure on the other side. All gate valves shall be supplied with a hand wheel and a reduction gear as described in section 2.3. Valves of sizes DN 350 and larger shall in addition be supplied with electrical actuators as described in section 2.4. Valves and actuators with a total weight exceeding 50 kg shall be fitted with lifting eyes. Materials for wetted parts shall be suited for each fluid type as stated in section III.1-6. Material Requirements. All equipment shall be in accordance with appropriate EC (European Community) directives, PED 97/23/EC, MD 2006/42/EC, LVD 2006/95/EC and their harmonised standards. Furthermore, all equipment shall be in accordance with the provisions of the applicable IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Recommendations. All equipment shall have CE (Conformité Européenne) marking and accompanied by EC Declaration of Conformity.
