15753 Stofnmæling botnfiska (Groundfish Survey)

Rikiskaup (The State Trading Centre)

The State Trading Center on behalf of the Marine Research Institute calls for tenders for The Icelandic Groundfish Survey (IGFS). The surveys are a significant part of the stock assessment and fishery advice for cod, haddock, redfish, tusk, ling, monkfish and several species of flatfish.
Moreover, the surveys provides information on the distribution and condition of many other fish species, as well as ocean temperatures. The main aim of the surveys has been to “improve the precision of stock assessments of demersal fish in Icelandic waters, with particular emphasis on cod. For the project is needed three licensed trawlers and six fishing boats with crews with deep knowledge on the projects circumstances.
The stratification in the surveys and the allocation of stations is based on pre-estimated density patterns in different ‘statistical squares’ The IGFS covers the continental shelf of Iceland to depths of 500 m. Allocation of stations and data collection is based on a division into local areas. Tenderers need to have licence and fish quota in Iceland Exclusive Economic Zone. Further information is in tender documents.
