Landspitali University Hospital and Rikiskaup (The State Trading Centre), which is the centre for governmental purchases of goods and services in Iceland, announce a planed competitive dialogues with technically and financially strong and well reputed firms in clinical diagnostics regarding clinical chemistry analyzers and immunoanalysers as well as equipment for automatic pre- and postanalytical processing and sorting for the department of clinical biochemistry at Landspitali University Hospital in Reykjavík, Iceland. The contractor is expected to supply and install the respective equipment on reagent basis. The department is operates on 2 locations, Hringbraut and Fossvogur and generates approx. 1 500 000 tests annually. The laboratory at Hringbraut is projected to serve as a fully automated facility which operates 24 hours a day to provide routine and stat testing for clinical biochemistry and hematology to both the inpatient and outpatient services. The laboratory at Fossvogur is projected to serve as stat testing laboratory and thus offering a limited menu of tests. While the competitive dialogues runs it course the number of prospective bidders will be made fever in each round until one is left with the best solution.

The reason for using competitive dialogue is due to the fact that the buyer, the State hospital in Iceland, is restructuring activities in clinical biochemistry and hematology at University Hospital. This is a very complex project with a large number of research and methods. This number of studies and research methods offers a very complex mixture of portfolio research of equipment and different run of batches. As a result, it is not possible to be fixed in advance what technical solution will be the most cost-effective for the buyer. The buyer seeks to utilize the expertise of the manufacturer and service providers in this field to develop the most economical and technical solutions for the purchaser.
